September/October 2010
Topic for these two months: The Body Chakras

We will spend the next eight weeks focusing on the body chakras - energy centers of the body that relate to both physical and metaphysical constructs. We will spend one week on each chakra, welcoming in the physical landscape of the body that supports that investigation, as well as the emotional and energetic meanings of that particular chakra. Each week will build on the previous, as we move from Root to Crown. Our final weeks will focus on the integration of and play between these primary seven chakras.

Week of September 1: First Chakra - Root & Tribe
Carried by our legs and feet - the bones, muscle, fluids, joints, and connective tissue - the Root Chakra is about just that: roots. This is the place in the body where we have opportunity to ground and create a foundation for ourselves from which to grow tall, much like a tree. This is not about the lower body serving as rigid structure and foundation, but as responsive and fluid support. The idea being that, as we inhabit our legs and feet more fully, we then give the rest of the body permission to extend and explore from a strong, receptive and rooted source.

The Root is about survival and our primal being-ness. It is where we house emotions and experience related to our basic survival needs - being fed and sheltered. It is the source of our most primal, animal nature, where we find our deepest, inexplicable connection to the concept of Tribe. If our needs are not being met in this area - being fed, sheltered, and held by members of a Tribe - we will be disconnected from or imbalanced in the Root Chakra. As we come into more balance with the physicality of this chakra - our legs and feet - we are inviting the same balance in this less tangible, but just as important, arena of the Root.

Week of September 8: Second Chakra - Relationship, Sexuality & Creativity

Week of September 15: Third Chakra - Solar Plexus & Personal Power

Week of September 22: Fourth Chakra - The Heart Of It All

Week of September 29: Fifith Chakrra - Speaking Truth & Being Heard

Week of October 6: Sixth Chakra - The Third Eye of Intuition

Week of October 13: Seventh Chakra - The Crown & Divine Connection

Weeks of October 20 & 27: Integration of the Seven Chakras
